"Repsol, through the Technology Center has been involved coordinating the research project for the Promotion of Biodiesel in Spain, which has had a duration of four years (2006-2010), a budget of approximately 23 million euros and whose main objective has been to expand the use of biodiesel in the domestic market through a program of R & D, whose activities concern the reduction of production costs and increasing the availability of local raw materials. Within the activities of the project, Repsol needed the support of SIMPPLE for CFD study for optimizing the design of a new system of cultivation of microalgae that has been patented. SIMPPLE also has done an outstanding job for Repsol to develop a tool for optimizing the layout of a plantation of such cultivation of microalgae systems depending on the characteristics regarding the parcel size, geographical position, orientation, etc. "
