Origins

The R+D+i company SIMPPLE, a spin out of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), was founded in the middle of 2004, as the result of a group decision of a team of qualified entrepreneurs with experience in undertaking knowledge and technology transfer projects from the URV.

The origin of SIMPPLE can be found in the activities of the innovation centre 'Intelligent Systems and Modelling of Production Processes and Logistics in Companies' (SIMPPLE), founded in 2000 and part of the XIT Network of CIDEM (which reports to the Department of Industry of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia). In turn, said centre was created from research groups in Transport Phenomena (FeT) and Environmental Management Analysis (AGA), both part of the URV’s Department of Chemical Engineering, which has over 25 years of research experience in the development and application of technologies relating to fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, artificial intelligence, software and environmental engineering for the industrial chemistry sector.

To provide leadership in industrial and service sectors with innovative products that assist all levels of management and administration – including production, environmental, R+D+i and logistics processes – through the holistic integration of engineering sciences with IT sciences.
We aim to become a leading company on a global scale, by offering products and services with a high added value and superior to those offered by our competitors, through the development of transversal technologies that will guarantee our company a leading position in the market. This will be posssible thanks to a highly qualified and committed workforce with an appropriate R+D+i corporate strategy.

SIMPPLE is a consultancy and R+D+i company, created as a spin-out of the Rovira i Virgili University, which aims to provide competitive advantages to companies and public administrations through the innovative and transversal use of technology.

Team

The most important asset of SIMPPLE is its workforce. In a company such as ours, where knowledge is our main asset, the skills and abilities of the workforce are key to the success of the company. The workforce of SIMPPLE – made up of doctors, engineers, graduates and laboratory technicians – has experience in developing projects with a high degree of technological innovation and executing them in a responsible, efficient and professional manner.

Simpple spin-outs

In January 2007 the first spin-out of SIMPPLE, NODALRED, was created together with BETABIT-GESTIÓN, Sistemas y Métodos, S.L. and LTC Project Estratègia & Consultoria Global, a company that belongs to Grupo Lavinia.

This is a new technology-based company that provides management support services to organisations and markets the range of boonsai products.
