Industry
Today, the global market has a direct influence on industrial production. A highly successful product today can become a second rate one tomorrow, either because it has become a commodity or because a replacement product has appeared on the market with better characteristics, and is also cheaper. This proves that the old saying “the more things change, the more they stay the same” is true. Industry has to undergo major changes every now and then, plant enlargements or changes to the production process in order to obtain a more profitable product. In particular, industrial plants have to modernise methods and processes periodically to prevent them quickly becoming obsolete. As an example of the devastating speed with which everything changes, although it seems incredible, the Internet started operating little more than 10 years ago.
In this environment of constant change, optimisation and innovation of processes are fundamental to today’s industrial plants. A reduction in energy consumption, raw materials or improving the characteristics of the end product are, or will be in the short term, key variables for making an industrial plant profitable and able to comply with environmental legislation.
And this is the aim of SIMPPLE. We already know that we can help design and optimise process equipment and diagnose and solve problems in systems and equipment in a broad spectrum of situations through the know-how and the expertise of the company workforce. But we want you to know this also.
In spite of the fact that the majority of projects are undertaken in multi-disciplinary teams, in order to carry out our work we have made a formal division that allows us to separate the various lines of activity. These are as follows:
- Design and optimisation of industrial processes
- Fluid Dynamics Consultancy
- Design and development of experimental studies and pilot plants
Information and Communication Technologies
The information society has substantially modified the way of working, communicating and collaborating in most organisations. Such change implies the correct planning, management and optimisation of information and communication technologies (ITCs). In a constantly evolving market where new trends appear at a rapid rate, it is vital to have a vision and a consultancy service that is remote from brands, products and identities in order to identify in a neutral and reliable manner the nature of requirements, the most appropriate technology in each case and to apply the right methodology for managing the life cycle of projects, and for managing change and risk.
In addition to offering services for the design, development and integration of systems and software solutions for business, SIMPPLE also has product development lines based on the development of indexation solutions and advanced searches of digital information and the boonsai suite designed to provide management support to organisations:
- Development and integration of customised software
- Open source indexation and information search systems
- Management support systems for organisations (boonsai)
Environmental studies
Any product (or service) will, to a greater or lesser degree, have an impact on the environment in each phase of its life cycle: acquisition of raw materials, production, distribution, use and end of useful life.
Optimal environmental management entails preventing contamination and the integration of environmental considerations during the development phase of the product and its processes, taking into account its entire life cycle and without compromising the remaining properties of the product: cost, safety, functionality, quality, etc.
In short, it is necessary to take advantage of ecological-economical synergies, prevent pollution, extend environmental protection beyond the limits of the production plant and cover the chain of suppliers and clients of the product or service.
The strategy of environmental management allows the industry:
- To manufacture more environmentally-friendly products;
- To obtain direct and indirect company benefits; and
- To guarantee compliance with current environmental legislation.
Industry plays a key role and occupies a privileged position in limiting the negative environmental impact of its products and SIMPPLE has broad experience in the environmental evaluation and improvement of industrial products and processes in various sectors.
The experience gained by SIMPPLE has been implanted and systemised into a series of methodologies and tools made available to industry and public administrations:
- Life Cycle Analyis (LCAmanager)
- Evaluation of environmental aspects within the framework ISO 14001 / EMAS (LCAintegra)
- Environmental simulation of processes and quantification of contaminants (EnviroSIM)
Furthermore, SIMPPLE carries out consultancy activities in:
- Eco-design and in-company training
- Simulations of the atmospheric dispersion of contaminants
- Environmental impact studies
